Festive ice bowl
Making a festive ice bowl to hold prawns, ice cream, or other frozen desserts can be a lot of fun, especially with children or grandchildren.
Take:
2 stainless steel bowls of the same shape, one larger than the other
fresh flower petals and leaves
water
- Place one bowl inside the other.
- Scatter the flowers and leaves in the gap between the sides of the bowls and then fill the gap with water. You may need to swirl the flowers around, once the water is added, to achieve an even distribution.
- Then pour water into the inner bowl to weigh it down and create an equal thickness all around for the wall of ice.
- Place in the freezer until just before serving.
- De-mould the ice bowl by pouring hot water on top of the ice in the inner bowl until it loosens and the block of ice can be removed.
- Place the outside bowl in water just warm enough to loosen it. Immediately, the ice bowl is free, return it to the freezer so that the walls refreeze.
- When ready to serve, sit the ice bowl on a glass plate for best effect.
