Jagajaga Community Volunteer Awards

Apr 27, 2025 | Events, News

Congratulations to Guy Palmer for his Jagajaga Community Volunteer award which honours his extensive work over more than 10 years for Local Food Connect. Guy produces the weekly newsletter, maintains the website and connects local growers, suppliers, retailers and the public across the food industry. He is also past president of Nillumbik U3A and produces its newsletter and maintains its website. We are proud that Guy is also a member of Sustainable Macleod. Note the food-appropriate tee-shirt!

Congratulations also to Mala Plymin and Ana Aguilar, both former members who moved on to do excellent work in the community. Mala (who was Sustainable Macleod’s first president) set up a produce garden with compost and worm farms at St Martins School when her daughter began there, and then also became involved in North East Food Rescue which we applaud.

Ana and her friends have been cooking meals for people in need for years and as part of North East Food Rescue, which is committed to reducing food waste by rescuing and redistributing it to those in need, thereby strengthening our community. This includes operating a community market twice a week. Ana accepted a Jagajaga Community Volunteer award on behalf of North East Food Rescue (NEFRI). Congratulations, Ana.

Thanks to Hon. Kate Thwaites, MP for Jagajaga for offering and hosting these awards.
